Tenerife

Tenerife lies in the Atlantic Ocean, in the Canary Islands. The size of the island is 2053Km2. The island is 85Km long and 52 Km wide, Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands. The central part of the island is mountainous and is dominated by El Teide which is the highest volcano in Europe at 3714 metres.      A cable car carries you to just below the top.

Geography

Tenerife is the largest island in the Canary Islands which lie in the Atlantic Ocean west of Africa, the same longitude as southern Morocco.  The archipelago consists of seven inhabited islands and four small islands. The main islands are: Tenerife Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.    The four small islands are: La Graciosa, Montaña Clara, Alegranza and Los Lobos.

Typically, the weather in the Canary Islands is always ideal for holidaymakers. The Canary islands have a volcanic landscape and have a  Mediterranean climate. The sun shines exuberant, and there is little rainfall, the average daytime temperature is 21ºC in January and 28ºC in August, the temperature varying little throughout the year. The average temperature at night is around 17 to 21ºC.    The seawater temperature is between 20 and 24ºC.

Transport                                                                                                                              The buses are relatively cheap and often on time. Taxis you´ll find almost on every corner of the street.

Traffic and roads                                                                                                                   The roads are built to a good standard and they drive on the right side.

Golf                                                                                                                                      The south of Tenerife has 6 courses where you can play golf 365 days a year, thanks to the climate, some even comprising 27 holes.
